Annual March on Albany
|
|

Every year normally on the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday
of the month of March, the Federation arranges for a bus to travel to
NY State's capital, Albany. It is there that we meet with our representatives
and discuss laws and regulations, but current and proposed, that will
impact or activities. NY State imposes many fees, taxes and regulations
on our activities by both laws passed by our representatives and by state
government departments like the DEC. It is import that we are represented
and our voices heard.
Seating
on the bus is on a fist come, first served basis and preference is also
given to people who are a member of the Federation or a member of one
of the clubs that belong to the Federation. Unaffiliated people can also
go as long as they agree with the goals of the Federation and topics will
be limited only to items on the approved agenda. We normally can always
find another seat and have never turned anyone away.
The annual March On Albany brings together
many people, clubs and groups from across the state and is coordinated
by the New
York State Conservation Council, Inc. with a mission of: ... to aid
in the formulation and establishment of sound policies and practices designated
to conserve, protect, restore and perpetuate forests, wildlife and scenic
and recreational areas with especial regard to the state of New York,
to the general end that the present and succeeding generations may continue
to enjoy and to use these great natural resources. As part of their mission,
they sponsor the Annual March on Albany.
